Remember, the photographer you choose will be there by your side for a large part of your day. Of course, the best choice would be someone you feel comfortable with, can communicate with and can trust to take shots that will be meaningful to you. When it comes to choosing your wedding photographer, there are certain things you’ll want to be properly informed about. Usually, you will have the chance to meet with your wedding photographer before the wedding day, which would be the perfect moment to make any queries you may have. How long have you been in wedding photography business? Do you have any reference or reviews?
This is an important question to ask your wedding photographer in order to know how much experience your chosen photographer has. At the end of the day, you want someone who will not crack under pressure or tire out after a few hours on his feet.
Would you require a list of shots we would like?
When asking this question to your wedding photographer, look out for whether he takes into consideration the details that are most meaningful to you.
A photographer who immediately replies “No” to this question should raise some red flags-there should be a fine line between him being open to communicating and collaborating with you, and him requiring you to trust him completely and blindly.

How many hours coverage will I get? What is the charge for extra hours?

How many photographers will there be?
Having a second photographer means that you’ll get twice as many photos and get those fun, unpredictable shots, like the groom’s face when he first sees his bride and the other can photograph the bride as she walks down the aisle. That will cover the eventuality that the photographer falls sick or cannot otherwise make it on your wedding day.
An assistant’s job is to ensure that every shoot runs smoothly, to prepare and check the set or location and make sure all equipment is available, clean and working. An assistant can also help with poses, change lenses, hold a reflector to create the best possible light and even keep children entertained during photo sessions, all of which gives the wedding photographer more time to focus on shooting your wedding day.
While some photographers offer this all-inclusive, it would be good to find out however if having any of the above comes at an additional cost.
How long will it take for the pictures to be ready?
Managing expectations is key to any successful vendor partnership in your wedding. Your photographer is going to need to take some time to edit your pictures, so confirm clear time frames for when and how you will receive your images.
Understandably, you’ll want to see some photos ASAP, and the wait can be pretty agonizing! If you know in advance, you can manage your expectations better.
What will you be wearing on the day?
The wedding photographer and his team usually want to blend in and match the style of your wedding. It would therefore be good to let him know what the theme and style is, and if you would like him to dress accordingly.
Will you require us to provide food and refreshments?

How much of a deposit is required to hold the date? When is the balance due? What forms of payment do you accept?
Asking means you don’t risk the chance of losing your wedding photographer to another client who may have booked them on the same date.
